Are You In An Inbetween Place?

Two of Jesus’ disciples were making their way to Emmaus.

Downcast after all that had taken place. Jesus had been crucified. They were probably feeling confused and lost, brokenhearted. They may have been feeling a myriad of emotions.

While they were walking, Jesus appears and starts walking along with them. The disciples didn’t recognize Jesus, as their once Leader and Friend. So Jesus starts speaking, to remind them about all the things He had said before He went to the cross and because what He said encouraged them, they asked this Man to join them where they were going.

When he was at the table with them, he took bread, gave thanks, broke it and began to give it to them. Then their eyes were opened and they recognized him, and he disappeared from their sight. They asked each other, “Were not our hearts burning within us while he talked with us on the road and opened the Scriptures to us?” Luke 24:30‭-‬32 NIV …

Sometimes when we are in inbetween places like these disciples on the road to Damascus when we go through confusing, difficult times, we fail to recognise Jesus for Who He is and what He has taught us, what we know for surety AND what He has accomplished on our behalf.

What an encounter and encouragement the disciples may have felt to see Jesus in the living a few days right after His death.

What encouragement there is for us whenever we ‘choose to’ bask in His Presence.

We will feel refreshed and our hearts will be burning within us again.

Are you weary, troubled? Caught in an inbetween place? Remind yourself of what God has done in your life. Seek God in the Bible.

Sit at Jesus’ feet to experience what His disciples experienced. A burning in their hearts, a warm burst of encouragement. Isn’t that what we truly need today in these trying times?
