Pride Goes Before A Fall

Don’t be the block to your own blessing.

Our ego plays a huge role in either allowing or blocking God’s goodness from coming into our life.

Look at Cain and Abel for example. Cain was hostile towards God for not accepting his offering. He was also hostile towards his brother because God was pleased with him.

Proverbs 16:18 talks about pride going before a fall. Pride is the obstacle to good relationships. Pride is dangerous to us, to the people we interact with and foremost – to our faith journey. When God builds bridges, our pride is swift to build walls and to isolate ourselves from others.

A meek spirit on the other hand, does quite the opposite. It recognizes our shortcomings / faults, owns up and tries to make amends with God’s help.

Meekness is a characteristic of the Holy Spirit. If we have one or the other, it should show us who we are led by. Our flesh or the Spirit.

Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves. Philippians 2:3
